Lost in the Ivy

Eckhartz Press

Reporter Charley Hubbs has the story that any reporter would kill for. The problem is that he may have done just that.

As the dead bodies pile up around him, Charley sets out to prove to himself that he’s not the homicidal maniac the press has made him out to be. Enlisting the aid of seductive, whip-smart bartender Elizabeth “Lizzy” Parker, he makes a daring courthouse escape. From that point on, it’s a race against time for the truth. Along the way, Charley discovers that he can run, but not hide, from his past.

Against the backdrop of Chicago's storied Wrigley Field, a baseball shrine cursed by a billy goat, Charley is caught in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Only by unlocking the mysteries of his past and opening his heart again will he be able to find if hope truly does spring eternal.

Reviews

If you’re a fan of the (dare I say “hapless?”) Cubs and you love crime fiction, you’ll love this fast-paced thrill ride through Chicago’s Wrigleyville… Richardson’s characters are quirky but believable and his history of baseball is spot on.
— Libby Fischer Hellmann, author of 10 Chicago-based thrillers
Randy Richardson’s Lost in the Ivy expertly captures the weirdness and excitement of the streets that the Chicago Cubs—baseball’s weirdest and most exciting franchise—call home. And aside from being a terrific “I’ve been there” walk through Wrigleyville, it’s a cracking murder mystery to boot!
— Stuart Shea, author of Wrigley Field: The Long Life and Contentious Times of the Friendly Confines
This book is not just for Cub fans but for all who love a great story. It’s a wonderful read. Enjoy! I know I did.
— Tom Dreesen, author (Tim and Tom: An American Comedy in Black amd White), comedian, and Cub fan
Capturing the nostalgia and innocence surrounding its characters, Randy Richardson leads the reader on a real-life literary adventure.
